2A1 Medulloblastoma (Case 2) _2
At autopsy the weight of the unfixed brain was 1530g. The leptomeninges in most parts are smooth, glistening, and transparent, although there is prominent effacement of sulci on the right side. Coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres reveal a large tan-white, soft, friable tumor involving the right basal ganglion and adjacent temporal lobe that extends into the right occipital lobe with mass effect on the right lateral ventricle. The anterior corpus callosum is also involved. Additional findings include right frontal periventricular encephalomalacia and presence of cavum septum pellucidum and cavum vergae.
