Nearly all the sections show a hypercellular neoplasm with predominantly small round blue cells harboring hyperchromatic nuclei and increased nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio, consistent with an embryonal neoplasm. In some areas, the tumor has marked nuclear pleomorphism, consistent with focal anaplasia. Multiple foci of necrosis are present. The tumor cells infiltrate into the right basal ganglion, right temporal lobe, thalamus, right occipital lobe, and extend into the corpus callosum.
