The tumor cells are mostly small, with a high nuclear-to-cytoplasmic ratio, usually hyperchromatic nuclei, and scant eosinophilic cytoplasm. Focally, however, the nuclei are considerably enlarged with prominent nucleoli and occasionally eccentrically located cytoplasm, imparting an epithelioid to rhabdoid appearance
