Case 2 History ---- The patient is a 24-year-old, right-handed woman who has had partial seizures since the age of 13. Non-invasive video EEG monitoring mapped the seizures to a left temporal occipital region of her scalp. MRI revealed a T2/FLAIR intense, vaguely enhancing, 'gyriform' lesion in the left medial parietal lobe, just above the parieto-occipital sulcus. Comparison of the current MRI (June 2007) with previous studies performed at outside institutions (in 1999 and in March 2006) shows an interval increase of both T2 hyperintensity and cortical prominence, raising concern for a neoplastic process rather than a malformation. Operative procedure: Craniotomy and interhemispheric resection of left medial occipital lesion.
