A subset of neoplastic cells are strongly GFAP immunoreactive. Positive cells display a cuboidal, epithelioid morphology with occasional cell processes. The broad foot processes around blood vessels are highlighted by the GFAP stain. Long fibrillary processes, as might be encountered in an astrocytic or routine ependymal neoplasm are not seen.
