The tumor shows hypercellular sheets separated by thin-walled, branching vessels, some forming garlands of microvascular proliferation. Necrosis is absent. The infiltrating tumor cells have small, moderately to severely pleomorphic, hyperchromatic nuclei that display occasional multinucleation, mitotic activity, focally marked contour irregularity and widespread perinuclear clearing.
