The neurosurgical specimen shows neuroglial tissue infiltrated to varying degrees by a frankly malignant glioma with widespread microvascular proliferation, multinucleation, pseudopalisading necrosis and vascular thrombosis. There is severe nuclear atypia and mitotic figures are abundant.
