5C IDHmut Astro Gr4 (Case 5) p53 1.jpg
A p53 immunostain shows diffuse and strong nuclear positive reactivity in the vast majority of tumor cells. ---- Not Shown: FISH failed to show chromosome arm 1p/19q coded deletions. Additional studies showed evidence of EGFR gene amplification in all interface nuclei examined with innumerable, clustered EGFR signals noted. There was no evidence for 10q deletion/monosomy 10. ---- Comment: The current tumor shows a predominantly high grade astrocytoma morphology with marked cytologic pleomorphism, high mitotic rate, multifocal endothelial hyperplasia, and coagulative necrosis, with mutant IDH1 which warrants the diagnosis of astrocytoma, IDH-mutant, CNS WHO grade 4.
