Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (GLIAL) | Astrocytoma, pilocytic - Microscopic | 50A0 Astrocytoma, pilocytic (Case 50) T1MPRAGE W - Copy
Case 50 History ---- The patient is a 3-year-old male with gait instability, headaches, and vomiting for several weeks with a 6.5 cm cystic mass in the cerebellum arising in the vermis (with a mural nodule). Operative procedure: Posterior fossa craniotomy. I am showing this case to demonstrate the extent of leptomeningeal growth seen in some pilocytic astrocytomas which may be spectacular but does not portend an increase in grading. ---- 50A0 This T1MPRAGE with contrast administered shows a cerebellar cystic tumor with hyperintense mural nodules. Also notice the ventriculostomy tract.
