Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (GLIAL) | Astrocytoma, pilomyxoid | 8C2 Astrocytoma, Pilomyxoid (Case 8) GFAP 1.jpg
A GFAP immunostain not only supports the piloid morphology of these neoplastic cells but also shows focally perivascular radial orientation of tumor cell processes (perivascular pseudorosettes). ---- Other stains: The tumor has an infiltrative growth pattern that is highlighted by a neurofilament stain. The tumor has a moderate Ki-67 proliferation rate that reaches ~6.7% in some areas.
