At autopsy the weight of the unfixed brain was 1340 grams. ---- 2B1-The leptomeninges show foci of gray-white partial opacification over the bilateral frontal and temporal lobes, as well as over the superior cerebellum. There are also small, scattered foci of subarachnoid hemorrhage over the frontal and temporal lobes. The cerebrum is markedly edematous with flattening of the gyri and narrowing of the sulci, indicative of compression against in the inner table of the skull. There is no evidence of uncal or subfalcine herniation. Caudal to the hemorrhage in the lumbosacral cord the leptomeninges shows a tan-brown discoloration and opacification. The external surface of the brainstem is nodular.
