The tumor is composed of a diffuse glioma composed of numerous tumor cells in a fibrillary background. Tumor cells have round to angulated nuclei with coarse chromatin, pleomorphism, irregular nuclear contours, and discrete cell borders. They have atypical hyperchromatic nuclei, occasional prominent nucleoli, and moderate amounts of eosinophilic cytoplasm. Mitotic activity is brisk, with up to 14/10HPF.
