Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (GLIAL) | Ependymoma, clear cell | 2B1 Ependymoma, clear cell (Case 2) H&E 2
2B1-4 Sections reveal multiple fragments of a highly cellular, relatively solid-appearing neoplasm with mild nuclear pleomorphism. The majority of tumor cells contain round to oval nuclei with delicate chromatin, frequent nuclear grooves and prominent clear perinuclear halos. In some areas, there are perivascular pseudorosettes, with nuclear-free zones surrounding central blood vessels. The mitotic index is elevated and there are foci of microvascular proliferation. No definite tumor necrosis is evident. (H&E)
