H&E stained sections show multiple fragments of a well-circumscribed, partially encapsulated, ependymal neoplasm. There are some areas of bland infarct-type necrosis. There are patchy areas of microcysts that contain extracellular pale basophilic material. There are abundant thickened and hyalinized vessels.
