3B1-3 Serial cross sections of the brainstem and cerebellum at 3-4 mm intervals reveal a soft, friable, tan tumor with irregular hemorrhagic areas which totally replace the right cerebellar lobe, fill the fourth ventricle and invade the pontine tegmentum. Superiorly, it extends and destroys the quadrigeminal plate and the tegmentum of the midbrain. Inferiorly it invades and destroys the posterior half of the upper one third of the medulla including the reticular formation. Anteriorly, it compresses and deforms the brainstem. Laterally it invades the left dentate nucleus and displaces and compresses the left cerebellar hemisphere.
