Ki-67 shows a markedly increased labeling index that focally approaches ~40% of total cells within portions of the specimen. ---- Not shown: EMA and D2-40 is immunoreactive in the luminal aspect of rosettes. D2-40 and synaptophysin also show dot-like positivity in a subset of neoplastic cells and, for D2-40, some wispy tumor cell staining. ---- Comment: The findings are those of an ependymoma, WHO grade 3. We considered the diagnosis of ETANTR and ependymoblastoma due to the multi-layered rosettes but failed to exhibit abundant neuropil (this old case had no molecular studies)
