Microscopy shows a neoplasm with atypical round to oval nuclei with speckled chromatin forming perivascular pseudorosettes and numerous true rosettes. Geographic necrosis is identified. Rosenthal fibers are identified in the reactive brain parenchyma adjacent to the lesion.
