Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (GLIAL) | Glioblastoma, primitive neuronal component | 11A3 GBM, Oligo, PNET, (Case 11) H&E 4
Sections reveal a variably cellular infiltrative glial neoplasm with mucin-rich microcystic spaces. In the more infiltrative component, the tumor was thought in the past to resemble a “mixed oligoastrocytoma”, containing moderate nuclear pleomorphism with nuclei ranging from round and regular with delicate chromatin and clear perinuclear halos to enlarged, irregular, and hyperchromatic forms. Both minigemistocytes and gemistocytes are also present.
