P53 heavily labels the PNC zone (P53 IHC) ---- Ancillary studies (not shown): S-100 protein is strongly expressed in the glioma, with lesser degrees of expression in the PNC-like areas. Tumor cells are negative for CAM 5.2, CD34, CD45, and epithelial membrane antigen. FISH was performed and there were polysomies (gains) of all four chromosomes seen in both components. However, MYC-N gene amplification was encountered only in the PNC-like component. The MYC-N signals were too weak to enumerate in the glioma portion, but there was clearly no gene amplification in this portion.
