Case 17 History ---- The patient was a 56 year old man who presented to an outside hospital with seizures and altered mental status. MRI showed a 2.5cm lobulated enhancing mass in the superior anterior portion of the right temporal lobe.
Operative procedure: Biopsy ---- 17A1,2 The neurosurgical specimen shows a variegated appearance. Higher magnification shows an infiltrative highly cellular neoplasm with extensive necrosis whose cells are pleomorphic with the vast majority having an elongated to spindled shape. Nests of primitive cells are surrounded by spindled elements; both elements consist of malignant cells. Nuclear molding is noted in the primitive areas.
