The glioblastoma areas do not stain for synaptophysin (SYN IHC) ---- Ancillary studies: The tumor is negative for the R132H mutant form of IDH1. MGMT (O(6)-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase) gene methylation was not detected using methylation specific PCR technologies. ---- FISH studies showed N-MYC gene amplification but were non-informative for MYC gene amplification (insufficient probe signals for analysis along with an excessive amount of background).
