FISH studies show deletion of chromosome 10q. ---- Ancillary studies: Stains for smooth muscle actin and desmin highlight the vascular elements, as well as scattered tumor cells within the sarcoma-like region, consistent with focal smooth muscle differentiation. A stain for p53 protein shows intense nuclear immunoreactivity within a subset of tumor cells, predominantly those in the glioma-like and the PNC-like components. ---- FISH studies showed polysomies (gains) of chromosomes 2, 7 and 8.
