16B1,2 This is a highly cellular, diffusely infiltrative high grade glial neoplasm with frequent mitoses, incipient endothelial hyperplasia, and multifocal necrosis. The tumor cells are small and without discernible cytoplasm. The tumor nuclei are oval to slightly elongated, however, they have more of an astrocytic-like appearance with some irregularity, and variable chromatin from finely stippled to hyperchromatic. Mitotic figures are found up to >40 mitoses/10HPF.
