2A1 GBM (Case 2) 8
2A1,2 The weight of the unfixed brain was 1250 grams. Coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres show a tan-red, hemorrhagic and centrally necrotic lesion present in the right temporal lobe, measuring 3 x 2.5 x 2 cm, which expanded the adjacent temporal lobe compared to the contralateral side. There is focal extension into the right basal ganglia and thalamus which are expanded and the gray/white junction blurred. The lesion focally extends into the overlying meninges and involves the right middle cerebral artery and adjacent vessels. The right lateral ventricle is mildly compressed near the tumor.
