The tumor for the most part consists of a grey gelatinous tissue with foci of hemorrhage and yellowish necrosis. In addition, there is diffuse grey colored enlargement representing tumor extension in the region of the hypothalamus, optic tract and chiasm, the septum pellucidum and fornix.
