Case 10 History ---- The patient was a 57 year old man with a ring enhancing mass in the left temporal lobe. Operative procedure: Craniotomy. ---- 10A This neoplasm is composed of regions with features of an astrocytic neoplasm with round, oval nuclei, variable amounts of fibrillary and gemistocytic eosinophilic cytoplasm, and also sarcoma-like regions with highly spindled cells arranged in interlacing fascicles. Mitoses are easily found. Extensive geographic necrosis and florid endothelial hyperplasia are also present.
