This area is composed of glioblastoma elements and reticulin is nearly completely confined to a tight perivascular sheath (reticulin histochemistry) ---- Ancillary findings (not shown): The tumor cells of both populations lack immunoreactivity for mutant IDH1 (p.R132H). ATRX shows retained nuclear expression. p53 shows strong nuclear staining in most tumor nuclei, including both glioblastomatous and sarcomatoid regions. (p53 IHC) Ki-67 shows comparatively elevated proliferation in regions with PNC neurons which is also present in this case. (Ki67 IHC). FISH showed loss of 10q/monosomy 10. EGFR amplification was not identified. Methylation of the MGMT (O(6)-methylguanidine-DNA methyltransferase) gene was not detected using methylation specific PCR technologies.
