Case 20 History ----The patient is a 31 year old woman who underwent resection of a left frontal tumor in December of 2013 after she began having seizures while pregnant. ---- 20A1-3 Sections of the resected left frontal tumor show a diffuse glioma with oligodendroglial differentiation. At its infiltrative edge, there is perivascular and perineuronal satellitosis. Neoplastic cells are arranged in variably hypercellular sheets with a rich investment by small vessels. There is no necrosis or microvascular proliferation. Neoplastic cells have relatively uniform oval to round nuclei with extensive cytoplasmic clearing. Mitotic activity is present but insufficient for the diagnosis of anaplastic oligodendroglioma.
