7A1,2 H&E stained sections show a low grade diffusely infiltrative glioma with low mitotic activity and no evidence of microvascular proliferation or necrosis. Scattered microcalcifications are accompanied by chicken-wire vessels throughout the tumor. An unusual feature of this tumor is multifocal areas of perivascular accumulation of histiocytic cells containing abundant golden brown pigment and fried egg appearance. Mitotic figures are infrequent (2/10HPF).
