19C Immunostaining for the R132H mutation of IDH1 is strongly positive in the tumor cells. ---- Not shown: Scattered GFAP positive tumor cells that have oligodendroglioma-like morphology are also seen. Synaptophysin shows weak positive staining in some of the cells, but chromogranin is negative. Ki-67 demonstrates a markedly high proliferation index of 43%, however the presence of inflammatory cells in this case may somewhat artificially inflate this number. ---- The interpretation is that this represents a drop metastasis from the patient’s known intracranial tumor.
