Case 24 History ---- The patient is a 42-year-old woman with history of grade 2 oligodendroglioma of the left frontal lobe (2010, biopsy) status post radiation and chemo. Now there is an increase in enhancement in left frontal lobe concerning for recurrence. Operative procedure: Stereotactic biopsy of left frontal lobe recurrent tumor. ---- 24A1,2 The tumor cells have mostly round to oval nuclei with occasional micronucleoli and prominent perinuclear clearing. However, a focal area shows dense cellularity, with increased nuclear atypia, incipient microvascular proliferation, and increased mitotic activity (~8-10/10 HPF). The background neuropil shows microvacuolation, focal radiation necrosis, and regional hyalinized thickening of the vessel walls.
