Case 28 History ---- The patient is a 58 year old man with tinnitus. MRI performed on 5/2014 shows a 4 cm heterogeneously post-contrast enhancing mass in the right parietal lobe with extension into the right temporal lobe. There is also surrounding edema. Operative procedure: Right parietal craniotomy and excision of tumor. ---- 28A1-3 H&E stained sections show multiple fragments of brain parenchyma involved by a hypercellular, high grade diffusely infiltrative glial neoplasm with scattered mitotic figures, areas of microvascular proliferation, along with geographic and pseudopalisading necrosis. The pattern of calcifications, some retiform, are an interesting histologic feature here.
