H&E stained sections show multiple fragments of brain parenchyma involved by a hypercellular, high grade diffusely infiltrative oligodendroglial neoplasm ---- Not shown: The tumor cells show strong widespread cytoplasmic positivity for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). The proliferation marker Ki67 stains an elevated subset of tumor cell nuclei at variable density, ranging focally up to approximately 20-30%.
