8A1 Oligodendroglioma, anaplastic (Case 8) H&E 5 IDH2 mut.jpg
Case 8 History ---- The patient is a 46-year-old woman. A prior specimen was diagnosed as anaplastic oligodendroglioma, WHO grade 3, clinically recurrent. Operative procedure: Right craniotomy for recurrent brain tumor. ---- The lesion is seen infiltrating in the surrounding brain parenchyma tracing along vasculature and demonstrating satellitosis. The nuclei exhibit moderate pleomorphism and mitotic activity is brisk. Foci of necrosis and endothelial proliferation are readily seen. These features are of a recurrent/persistent anaplastic oligodendroglioma, WHO grade 3. ---- In this case although the IDH 1 R132H mutation was not found; however, IDH2 is mutated in the sequencing panel.
