2B2-4 In many areas, associated with a rich network of fine vessels, the tumor cells range from plump to spindled, with medium sized irregular hyperchromatic nuclei, small nucleoli, thin eosinophilic plasma membranes, and irregular cytoplasmic vacuoles with variable clearing and pale blue mucin; in these areas, the tumor cells often appear in vague nests, occasionally with subtle perivascular pseudorosette formation. Mitotic figures are rare (only one was identified). Microvascular proliferation is appreciated, and intravascular thrombosis and infarct-like necrosis are multifocal.
