Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (GLIAL) | PLNTY | 3H1 PLNTY (Case 3, Resection 2) H&E 4
Case 3, Resection #2 (2020) ---- 3H1-4 This resection specimen continues to represent a low-grade glioma constituted by 'oligodendroglial cells' harboring round, regular nuclei and perinuclear clearing, in a diffusely infiltrative pattern, along-with few scattered dystrophic calcifications. The neoplastic cells are relatively uniform with minimal pleomorphism and demonstrate a rich capillary network in the background. Dysmorphic neurons are not appreciated. Some areas, in addition, show encephalomalacia and marked reactive changes including gliosis, remote hemorrhage, scarring and adhesion with overlying meninges, altogether consistent with prior procedure related changes. High grade features are not present in this recurrent neoplasm (H&E)
