The tumor is composed of markedly pleomorphic nucleated cells with abundant cytoplasm arranged in sheets and strands as well as spindled astrocytes. The tumor cells show marked pleomorphic hyperchromatic nuclei, some with prominent nucleoli or multinucleation.
