8A1 Subependymoma (Case 8) H&E 11
Case 8 History ---- This patient was a 54-year-old man who presented with approximately 3 months of worsening headache in the morning, memory problems over the last year and occasional blurred vision. Brain MRI showed multiple nodular masses within the right lateral ventricle, the largest within the occipital horn, with associated expansion of the lateral ventricles. Operative procedure: Right parieto-occipital craniotomy and tumor resection. ---- 8A1-3 Sections show a neoplasm with finely fibrillary, eosinophilic, paucicellular background with abundant microcysts. The tumor cells have predominantly round to oval, irregular nuclei with some perinuclear clearing. Clustering of tumor cells can be appreciated. Rare scattered tumor cells with enlarged irregular nuclei can be seen.
