Generally appearing within a columnar epithelium, the tumor cells have eosinophilic cytoplasm, distinct cell borders, and basophilic nuclei with powdery chromatin. Occasional cells have cleared-out chromatin, nuclear grooves, and nuclear pseudoinclusions.
