Case 45 History ---- The patient is a 41 year old man with a history of lung adenocarcinoma diagnosed 3 years previously. He went on to develop a brain lesion suspicious for metastasis. ---- 45A1,2 Sections of the resected hemispheric mass show metastatic carcinoma invading gliotic parenchyma in cohesive nests. Tumor cells display moderate nuclear pleomorphism with vesicular chromatin, prominent nucleoli, abundant mitoses and formation of rudimentary glands. There is extracellular and intracellular mucin.
