Here is a junction between haloed cells and more solid forms (H&E). You can see why these tumors are often thought to represent oligodendrogliomas. Some of the tumor cells do have cleared out appearing cytoplasm. The tumor nuclei are round and regular with finely stippled chromatin. Mitotic figures are easily found and measure up to 3 mitoses /10HPF.
