There is little proliferative activity in the tumor, although the proliferative vessels show numerous labeled cells. (Ki67 IHC) ---- Not shown: A stain for neurofilament protein highlights entrapped axons at the periphery of the tumor, consistent with a combined solid and infiltrative growth pattern. A stain for leukocyte common antigen highlight scattered lymphocytes. ---- Comment: The morphologic and immunohistochemical features are consistent with the diagnosis of cerebellar liponeurocytoma, WHO grade 2. Such tumors have generally been associated with a more favorable prognosis. Originally, the WHO assigned this tumor a grade 1 designation. However, with additional clinical follow-up, many recurrences have subsequently been reported and therefore, the most current WHO designates these as grade 2.
