14A1 DNET (Case 14) H&E whole mount 2
Case 14 History ---- The patient is a 32 year old man that underwent temporal lobe resection in 2000. ---- 14A1-3 Sections reveal multiple fragments of cortex and underlying white matter show multiple intracortical mucin-rich patterned nodules. These nodules contain numerous oligodendroglia-like cells with round regular nuclei and clear perinuclear halos arranged in ribbons and perivascular arrangements. Similar cells are seen in between the nodules and there are also "floating neurons" wherein neurons appear to be floating in small mucin-containing spaces. Mitotic figures are hard to find and there is no evidence of endothelial hyperplasia or necrosis. The morphologic features are consistent with the diagnosis of DNT, WHO grade I.
