Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (NEURONAL) | DNET | 16A1 DNET (Case 16) H&E whole mount
Case 16 History ---- The patient is a 19 year old man with a long history of seizures, now with a non-enhancing right medial temporal lobe mass. Operative procedure: Craniotomy. ---- 16A1-4 Sections showed a low grade glioneuronal tumor composed of oligodendroglial-like cells with small, round nuclei and cytologically unremarkable neurons "floating" in pools of basophilic mucinous material. The tissue is fragmented such that the typical "columnar" architecture is not well appreciated. The tumor has a rich vasculature, but no true endothelial hyperplasia is present. Necrosis is absent and mitoses are hard to find. These findings are those of a WHO grade I DNT.
