Case 17 History ---- The patient is a 12 year old girl who was originally diagnosed with a low grade glioma of the right parietal lobe in December of 2000. She was subsequently treated with radiation therapy and now presents with a ring enhancing mass in the vicinity of the prior tumor. ---- 2000 Resection : 17A1-3 Sections from the 2000 specimen reveal a mucin-rich cortically based tumor with a relatively monomorphous population of small round cells containing bland chromatin and clear perinuclear halos. There are numerous floating neurons within a pool of mucin. In some areas, the tumor cells are arranged in a patterned linear fashion. Mitotic figures are hard to find and there is no evidence of necrosis or endothelial proliferation.
