1B1-4 The neurosurgical specimen often arrives in pieces and the specific glioneuronal element may have an uncertain relationship with the pial surface rather than a compelling perpendicular one. Sections of the tumor show oligodendroglia-like tumor cells in a multicystic and myxoid background. Some of these areas contain neurons which appear to be "floating" in the myxoid matrix.
