Sections show a neoplasm composed of cells with round, regular nuclei with homogeneous chromatin arranged in cords with intervening pools of blue myxoid material. Several examples of neurons amidst this myxoid material are seen, so called 'floating neurons'. Mitoses are extremely rare.
