3B1,2 -Sections show monotonous and cytologically bland tumor cells. In this orientation the columnar appearance expected for the specific glioneuronal element appears as extensive microcysts as expected in cross section. Within these microcysts are pools of blue extracellular material and larger cells with prominent nucleoli (“floating neurons”) without perikaryal satellitosis. No dysplastic ganglion cells or perivascular lymphocytic infiltration are seen.
