8B1-4 The specimen consists of multiple fragments of a mildly cellular neoplasm with a microcystic and patterned mucin rich background involving primarily cortical gray matter. Tumor cells are comprised of small, oligodendrocyte-like cells aligned in a columnar fashion along bundled axons or small blood vessels, with scattered "floating neurons" within the mucin pools or intermixed with the oligodendroglial-like cells. Focal oligodendroglioma like areas are present, with sheets of oligodendroglial-like cells in a myxoid, cystic background, interspersed with delicate, chicken-wire vasculature and rare calcifications.
