This electron micrograph shows a binucleate neuron. ---- Ancillary data (not shown): Sections stained immunohistochemically for vimentin show uniform cytoplasmic tumor cell reactivity; the fibrovascular network appears in relief. Collagen IV reactivity highlights the basal lamina of the tumor vasculature and shows weaker staining within the desmoplastic element. Reactivity for neurofilament protein highlights only exceedingly rare axonal processes. INI1 reactivity is retained. Proliferation marker Ki-67 (MIB-1 antibody) shows nuclear reactivity within 20% of tumor cells but inclusion of other reactive elements may have influenced that high count.
